I rented a car through a popular online travel company, Hotwire.com. EVERYTHING was told to the representative and he said it was fine, and asked if he could book the rental. When I get to the car rental company, they said I could not rent a vehicle from them because I did not have a major credit card or a round trip ticket, which the Hotwire customer svc rep was well aware of both because I double asked him and he told me I could. Hotwire kept telling me "all sales final" and would not refund my money. Then Hotwire called the car rental and was told I was denied the vehicle. At this point they offered me a credit of my $50.00 BUT they had to RE-BOOK it at retail price at my choice of places. I think they intentionally took my money knowing I would not get a rental car. Do I have any recourse? I went through a lot of hassle, aggravation and tears. I drove a long way just to get to the rental car company, having to deal with an airport. Do I have any recourse for money back and pain and suffering or am I out of luck other than small claims, as I wouldn't even know where to start with an online company that large.

Can a lien published and recorded in public records be ignored when you get an estoppel letter?

I'm located in Florida. I have a lien dated Feb 28, 2011 and recorded Mar 7, 2011 in the public records. I buy foreclosures so we base our bid upon known debts. The estoppel atttorney keeps ignoring the published lien in the official records and has now, 3 months later, tried to charge me over $8000.00 for prior HOA fees when the lien established the debt at under $6000 at the time lien was placed on property. Can a HOA attorney just ignore the lien and arbitrarily establish a new amount although the lien, including attorney fees, late charges and interest was already established and placed into the public records. Three months after lien was placed in official records the estoppel letter ignores the lien and has increased from $5777.90 to over $12,000.00. 1. What recourse can anyone recommend to stop this abuse of the system???? This is a constant battle with HOA attornies over the last 10 years. 2. What is a reasonable attorney fee for processing estoppel letters and filing liens? 3. Sounds like a class action suit in the making for some attorney because it is wide spread problem that needs to be reined in by the BAR Association or the law changed to specifically identify what can and can't be charged to a buyer who purchases property with HOA Liens. I have worked for this restaurant for 6 years. They just recently added the rule that you must ask a manager to go out and smoke. Ok no problem. From what I was told by other employess it was because people would go out and smoke in the middle of a rush which isn't cool. So the reason for the rule was to make sure that all stations were manned and the customers didn't suffer. I then asked them if our dishwasher had to ask to go and smoke and he stated "No one cleans like she does" which is true. She is one of the best workers we have. It has been stated by our reginal manager that they are to make sure she doesn't quit as she helps us get the highest scores for cleanliness on our annual store reviews out of 100 stores. I have been told by my Kitchen Manager as well that if any employee does anything to make her quit the employee will be fired on the spot. I love her to death and we have an awesome work relationship and this is not to spite her. So I challenged my Kithchen Manager with "Thats not right. It is discriminatory the rules need to apply to everybody" He then looked at me and then stated "Well I'll just change the rule to those that clean the most won't have to ask to smoke" Can he do that when the rule has been in effect for 2 days already? Needless to say I am a little angry. This rule has been in effect since Thursday for the purpose of making sure all stations are manned when we are really busy which is fine by me. The thing I have an issue with is EVERY employee MUST ask a manger. I have talked to a few other employess and they are a little upset as well. Our city also just went to no smoking in restaurant and bars and yet our General Manager thinks it's ok to smoke in the Employee Bathroom. Is this a case of discrimination in both instances? Do I have any recourse? Or do I have to just bite the bullet?

Am i fat or just big?

Hey guys, i recently started to try and loose some fat over the summer by going to the gym mon-thurs and playing airsoft all day saturday. however after 2 weeks, its said i gained 2 lbs... i was never a lazy person who never did anything, i played ice hockey all my life and soccer, i can run a mile without stopping, and do many other athletic things. im about 6ft and weigh 220 lbs. i feel thats entirely too fat, and when i compare my Body Mass Index to my Height, it claims in obese... which is crazy. i wish i could show you guys a picture lol but i feel like im just building muscle and thats the reason im gaining weight from working out. Also i come from a family with large leg muscles and can bet you that each leg weighs 50-75lbs lol.

Backyard Ice Rink Help!?

I know it is only summer, but i want to start planning for a backyard ice rink in the winter. My first question is where can i get a plastic tarp/liner because i don't want to wait for the snow which most likely will not fall until january? Age & Weight Discrimination during interview?

I am 24 years old, a 4 year military veteran and I have a college degree...that being said I do look young in appearance. I was interviewing for a position that I was well qualified for today and really felt discriminated against. The interviewer asked how old I was, when I said I was turning 25 in a few months, he said "You look like a teenager, I thought you might have still been in highschool when I first saw you" Then he asked me what my weight was. The position does involve heavy lifting, however I think some sort of physical test would be administered rather than just judging my body weight. I weight 140lbs. but I'm in great shape and capable of lifting heavy weight all day. I felt that those two questions were completely unprofessional, and they kind of threw me off for the rest of the interview. I just want to know if a potential employer has the right to ask those sort of questions, whether age discrimination can apply to us younger folks, and what recourse do I have available in terms of a complaint if he was not within his rights? I watched 3 of my brothers hockey games (he's no longer playing now). His team mate and I kept eye contact through all of the games, and he was showing off a lot. My Son deposited money into an ATM and it accepted the cash but it said "transaction cancelled." It did not give him a receipt. This happened on a Saturday night. He called 'customer service' right away and they told him to go into the bank on Monday. On Monday, he went into the bank and they said that they had opened up the ATM but did not find the $138 that my son had deposited. They said they were going to look at the video. This, however, has been over 2 weeks ago and they keep saying that the video is not available yet. How could this have happened and what is our recourse? Thanks!

What tips do you have for becoming head boy/girl?

So it's less than a year now until head boy/girl gets picked from our year and i'm really enthusiastic about being it. The problem is that i'm not the obvious choice. I would like to know any good interviewing tips or things to get involved in that would really make me stand out against the others. I'm already involved in credit union, eco group, hockey, duke of edinburgh, organising the careers convention and library volunteering- all in school. My grades are good, not the best but they're still all a good level. I've also received 4 endeavour awards for my hard work since starting the school. I've got ideas on what i would like to change within the school and everything but i feel like i just need some tips on how to let the staff know i'm going to be the right choice. Then if he does return, it is indeed trespassing. If your manager doesn't do anything about it and the behavior persists, you can file a police report, which will result in the same thing. I'm 16 and i'm re-doing my room. I got it re-done when I was 8, and I chose lime green and sky blue. I'm older and those colours seem a little kiddish for me, so I've chosen to re-do my whole room. Sorry i don't live in you area but I was in a similar situation. I emailed the coach and she showed me camps and leagues i could sign up for to help me get ready. If you can't do that then go get a stick, the sales staff should help you with sizing but it should come up to your hip bone. Then go on Youtube to find drills you can do at home or to learn about the rules of the game. Ball control is really important so practice dribbling and do pulls. Also work on strong passing and your drives, again go on youtube for demonstrations. Conditioning is also a big aspect, so make sure you are running everyday. Being in shape will help your chances of making the team. Your coach can teach you how to play but not how to run faster. Also if you know anyone who has played or is going to try out try and get together to practice or they can teach you more about the sport. I hope this helped, I hope you make the team

Wow love your adventure chic..ok the jerome russell bleach will bleach up but prob is you have dark at roots and actually 3 different colours at best this is colour correction, but with what you have bought i think you can do this however apply the bleach to root area (only) first ..after about 20 minutes pull rst bleach mixture thru rest of hair, now put a plastic bag over your hair and time out by another 10-15 min ..judge this by looking at the removal colour you really want all of it a lemon yellow..ok? when it's there rinse the stuff off and your head gunna be tender...the joys of beauty! now condition because this hair is very porous now and will grab colour...after dry the hair and apply a ash or purpleish tone to get the brass away. Now make sure you have enough to cover if this may involve 2 boxes if you doing otc stuff...your should now have a fresh pallete of one colour to colour pink. let me know how you do and best of luck chic

For me the cutest beach town would be Manuel Antonio. Culture in Costa Rica? Costa Rica is known more for it's biodiversity than it's culture. I think some of the most incredible beaches are in Drake Bay( South Pacific coast) just because of the biodiversity there, it's right next to Corcovado National Park. Some of the beaches there are almost virgin, really beautiful.You can also visit Ca�o Island there. Tamarindo is another cute town on the North Pacific Coast but can also be crowded. If your looking for culture I'd recommend another country like Guatemala but Biodiversity is the real treat here in C.R.

Social Security "advocates" failed to file claim, legal options?

A close friend of mine is disabled. Its a long list, but she has multiple medical issues and is absolutely deserving of SSI. 10 months ago my friend went to a "recommended" Social Security advocates/attorney company to get started on filing for disability. They told her to come back with some additional documentation so she did, then she signed everything and was told now she had to wait for SS to do their thing. So she waited, and waited, and waited. After 6 months passed with no news she started calling but could never get a call back. Shortly after she started trying to call her 14 year old son passed away in a tragic accident, so understandably the SS thing went on the back burner. Recently she finally got caught up enough to worry about her SS claim again and again started calling. No one would ever connect her with who she needed, instead only taking messages which were never returned. Finally in frustration she called Social Security to find out the status of her application only to find out that the "advocates" never filed her claim. Mouth guard for field hockey?

I just went to Sports Authority, and a salesman recommended a plastic mouth guard that was for players with braces. Now I don't have braces, but he said that it just gives you some extra protection...but when I opened & wore it it seems a little big and it's hard to close my mouth, but he said not to boil it. It fits okay but just seems to cover too much of my mouth, since the braces are supposed to add some thickness. Is that normal, or should I buy some normal ones? Wondering about my results with p90x?

Hey everyone I just started p90x a few days ago and was wondering if anyone who knows the program well could inform me whether or not it will give me the results im hoping for? Im 17 (and a girl) and am already pretty strong and athletic (tri varsity soccer ice hockey lacrosse), but don't have the tone in my muscles and body I want. I practice with my team 1-3 times a week in the summer but want to do p90x along with it as my primary fitness commitment. Through p90x I'm hoping to drop between 10 and 20 lbs of fat and then gain some back in toned muscle and also become more flexible and quick. I understand nutrition well and have that under control. If I continue to follow the program, based on what i've said do you think my goals are attainable?! Thaaank youu!!

Are you positive that the last one went that badly? Because unless you spend the whole time talking about how unqualified you are or reveal some major psychological issues or that you know absolutely nothing about the school, it's very difficult for a college interview alone to sink your chances. Feedback on a children's story I wrote?

Its extremely repetitive, even for a children's book. There are plenty of counting books for kids out there that take this format already. Yours is not unique enough that it stands out. Getting my hours slashed at Taco Bell?

I have been fighting Depression and at times I just don't care and I just want something as a reminder. I worked in a job,a very physically demanding job,for 10 years.I worked days and there was another employee in the same job as me on second shift.For the three years he was employed there Im guessing of 100% of the total work done 95% was done by me . Fellow employees would attest,as it was a running joke in our company for 3 years.3 years ago I was diagnosed with some very serious medical problems and 2 years ago I had surgery which was supposed to significantly limit my duties at work according to restrictions placed on me.My restrictions were broken daily,which I relize I was partly responsible for,and Im not afraid to say that my workload if anything increased instead of decreasing.While in turn my counterparts on 2nd shift decreased.Basically I was doing 99% of the work while he mostly slept at night or was never even there..My foreman informed me at least 15 times of how this employee was going to be fired for not doing his job and for even stealing from the company.In November,over the Thanksgiving weekend,I had worked feverishly to keep my jobsite afloat working all four days while other employees were off and our job was shut down.My counterpart also"worked" these four days and it was known by my foreman that he done absolutlely nothing the whole time he was there.The following Monday I had a near death experience as ,according to my Dr.,the over exertion from the previous 4 days had caused me to pass out,falling face first in 8" of water.A fellow employee saw it happen and pulled me out..After four days in the hospital I was informed by my employer that they no longer had anything for me at my jobsite to accomodate my restrictions.Im going to give you 1 guess at who has my job now..Yes your right my counterpart from second shift.With everyone I worked with in the entire company knowing that I was being "worked like a dog" and this guy was "getting away with murder" do I have any recourse against anyone be it the company,the foreman or the employee for me no longer having a job.I mean is it fair or is there a law against working one guy to death and then replacing him with the reason he was worked to death..

What recourse does an employee have that was fired and arrested for serving a minor, that was later dismissed in court due to the lack of training on the employers part?. Why are leaves of a flamingo plant turning brown?

I had this plant for 6 years and I repoted it two months ago because it had out grown its pot. Some leaves started to turn brown from the outside and die. My rights as a live in girlfriend?

My boyfriend and I have a child together and he has recently ( about a year ago) acquired full custody of his 2 sons, as their mother is mentally and physically abusive and unstable. Something is not right with this home inspector. Ask for his license and insurance and if he fails to provide it then call the state dept of licenses and report him. I feel depressed these days!!?

Recently, I've always felt depressed. Yesterday my mom started to get mad at me cause I told her I didn't wanna talk! I know why I feel depressed. I feel like I'm wasting life. I'm only 15 I just turned 15 and I feel like I need to have something that I'm good at. For example, this dude in my class is planning to be in the NHL and played hockey around in Europe and he and someother kid got chosen to be the two players for Canada. He's going to play hockey all summer and he loves doing it! This other girl I a great singer. She sang for the last day of school and I got goosebumps and everything. I feel like I'm the only one that has nothing I'm good at. One time i tied with all my effort to draw, and I couldn't so I let go of it. Then I realized that recently I really wanted to act. I keep watching movies an tv shows and I wanted to be them. I posted questions about it. But I figured that if my teacher didn't like my audition, I can't do it. I decided to let go of it. But I can't let go it! I enjoyed that time where I had to keep reading my monologue over and over. I enjoyed watching people do this monologue and getting tricks. I enjoyed this so I couldn't let go if it. It's still on my mind. I listed a few books but I didn't get them yet. I'm trying real hard to let go of it cause I'm not good but I can't. Same goes with singing. I feel the songs but I can't sing. Heck I have a flat voice so it's even disturbing when I talk! I've these dreams where I sing on YouTube and manager finds me and I get signed. I've also these dreams where I do a monologue on YouTube and an actor finds me and I get signed. How can I stop this and focus on just enjoying life for now? I really wanna act but my teachers the drama teacher I think he knows best.

What to do if employer did not pay health insurance?

I have a friend who was recently let go from an employer because the company was not doing well and the owner had to reduce the labor. She was the ranking FNG (frickin' new guy) so she and the other most junior employee got the axe. They didn't get their last paychecks so she was working for free for the last 2 weeks. Then she went to get COBRA, she discovered that the employer had not been paying the health insurance premiums even though the money had been being deducted from her checks. What sort of recourse is this for this? Would it even be worth getting an attorney?

Missouri employer lying about me quiting?

I am fairly sure I can win my appeal, but my real question is "Is there any punishment or recourse for an employer who lies (more than once!) to unemployment?" I know an employee can be charged with fraud if they lie about info, but what about a lying employER? Basically, he said I quit. The day I got fired, I even repeated to him "So you're firing me?" he replied "I guess thats what has to happen." He also tried to block my girlfriend from unemployment, which was stupid because she had worked there for 2 weeks (it was a temp position while the receptionist recovered from surgery). She had been at her previous job for 2 years so he would not have even been responsible for her unemployment but STILL tried to tell UE that she had refused a permanent position. He is a real piece of work... I know of at least a handful of other employees he has done this to as well. Also... Question number two... Can I request his UE claims be pulled? Like I said he has done this to at least a handful of other employees (said they quit after he fired them) and they all won. Therefore, it seems logical they would get suspicious at some point, right? Last, it is a tiny company (about 8-10 employees at any given time) He keeps people as long as they and act like slaves, so usually around 2 years when you start asking for raises and what not, you end up under the bus. I am just saying that to put "a handful of employees" in perspective. Not a lot of turnover, therefore, a handful of employees is a lot at his company. Anyway, any input (but pls- missouri specific answers would be most helpful) is greatly appreciated!

What is the cause and how do I prevent these stomach problems?

For the last two years I have gone to a six day (Sunday to Friday) hockey camp. The first day I am fine, but on Monday my stomach starts to really hurt, it feels like there is a giant rock in there and I have explosive diarrhea (sorry to gross you out.) It is really embarrassing to use the restroom, since it is almost never private (meaning there is only stalls to use where other people can hear.) Last year, on Wednesday I found Ginger Ale in the the cafeteria and it didn't hurt after that. So is it homesickness, is it the food, or is it something else? I am going to a different camp (it's the same length) this year, so if it is the food, hopefully it will fix it. PLEASE HELP! How do I stop this?!? It makes the camps not as enjoyable as it should be. I was thinking about bringing Tums this year, maybe that would help? If I do bring Tums, when should I have them because we don't get to go to our rooms anytime besides to sleep and change? Thank you!
