Similarities of Brandon Flowers song writing/style to Talking Heads?

The more I listened to Brandons solo album I started to notice some eerie similarities. Listen to "clock was ticking," on Flamingo, then "Once in a lifetime," by the Talking Heads... Or listen to Talking Heads', "road to nowhere," then listen to "this is your life," off the album Day and Age. I'm not saying he copied them or steals, but I do think his style is very similar, and in a good way! Agree?
